Several
years ago, the Lummi Island Grange joined the "Words For Thirds", a
national program to provide a dictionary for every third grade student
in the nation. We have since then, added the students at the Lummi
Nation School, as well as the Beach School on Lummi Island. Before we
pass out the dictionaries to the students, we check with the teachers,
to see if they have any 4th grade students that had not received a
dictionary as 3rd graders, and include them as well as the teachers.
